SO NOW YOU HAVE BOXES AND BOXES OF C.D.’S…. Everyone’s told you that you have one of the best albums they’ve heard in a while but no one sat you down to tell you about a marketing and promotion plan? Yeah you’ve sold about 30 or 40 copies to family and friends as well as a handful at some of your gigs (shows). Be forewarned, in time the venue owner will be getting a cut which is usually about forty percent (40%) of your profit. Lets talk about getting your album out to the world on a national level. You can try to get an independent or major label to release your album but even that can cost time and money or you can do it yourself. (At least this way you’ll get to see more money and a lot of hard work!). With Everywhere You Turn Marketing & Promotions that work is cut almost in half. As an artist you’re busy with tours and interviews. There has only been little who has done everything including a record company, a manager, and a marketing and promotions person. Our job at Everywhere You Turn is to lighten your load. Here is a basic budget outline for a national independent release from your average marketing and promotion company: Manufacturing (of 2500) $3000.00 Mailing/Shipping $600.00 Advertising $2000.00 Radio/Retail Promotion $5000.00 Miscellaneous $2000.00 Total $12,600.00 Some of you are probably saying, “yeah, right…”, but believe it! You and/or your label will want to subscribe to various music related magazines such as: Living Blues, Gospel USA, Billboard, Behind The Scenes, etc., depending on your genre of music as well as your targeted audience. Remember when you are your label you keep most of the money you make from sales but there is an old saying that we all know; “in order to make some money, you have to spend some money.” We at Everywhere You Turn know marketing & Promotions quite well. For starters our staff is well seasoned in this field and you must understand getting your album off and running involves us (Everywhere You Turn) making a combination of things happen simultaneously. You or your artist (s) touring creates a buzz in the album. We at Everywhere You Turn service radio retail and press with promotional product. A week or two later we do tracking (calling) to get their feedback (including what track or tracks are the favorites). Shortly after that ads are taken out in various trade magazines thus creating even a bigger demand for your album. Lining up all of the above is very important! After this is done we (Everywhere You Turn) Line up various distributors (regional and/or national) to stock your album. Distributors are the one’s who will attempt to sell your c.d. (s) to the buyers at record stores including mom & pop stores and chain stores like Tower, etc. This is better than selling your product on consignment because that is a costly time consuming headache. That’s why you want your product to go through a distributor. You can still sell your album to consumers as well as on your gigs (shows) but on a larger scale. No doubt, a distributor is the way to go! A distributor is not going to carry something they can’t sell unless there is a considerable demand for it. If the key things mentioned earlier are done and are in place, it shouldn’t be a problem. We at Everywhere You Turn have all of the tools and the “know-how” to help you sell your product, get air-play, reviews from newspapers/trade magazines plus get your album to distributors convincing them of your sales-worthiness. Sales and chart generations, listings, airplay and all of the other techniques to let the distributors know that what you’ve got is hot! From that point you are off and running!!! Our prices start at $1,500.00 per month (based on what you have/or what need to be done). Our contract is on a month-to-month basis. Phone, fax or email us now so we can get on the job of getting you out there! Everywhere You Turn Promotions & Marketing
